Quote: Conversations related to maternal health have, for far too long, omitted discussions about maternal mental health. My work as a scholar, counselor, educator, advocate, and volunteer birth doula is fueled by personal experiences as a Black mother and daughter. My hope is that my work bridges conversations between medical and mental health professionals to achieve reproductive justice for Black women. My passion centers around elevating Black women’s voices in scholarly research – particularly that which is centered around developing culturally-responsive and relevant assessment tools.
